Number of dengue patients outside Dhaka still high
In the past 24 hours, 457 dengue patients were hospitalised outside Dhaka
The number of dengue patients is decreasing steadily across the country, but hospitals outside Dhaka continue to receive more dengue patients compared to those in the capital.
In the last 24 hours until 8:00am on Thursday, a total of 788 new dengue patients were hospitalised across the country, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Among the fresh patients, 457 were hospitalised outside Dhaka, while 331 were admitted to hospitals in Dhaka.
The DGHS said that at present 3,371 dengue patients are undergoing treatment in hospitals throughout the country. Among them 1,729 are undergoing treatment at the capital and 1,642 outside Dhaka.
This year so far, 74,353 patients have been admitted to hospitals and 70,790 among them returned home after treatment.
The health directorate also confirmed 57 deaths after analysing “death reviews.”
However, the DGHS control room said that it had received 192 reports on suspected dengue deaths as yet. The previous highest death toll was 93 in 2000.
