The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Friday said the total number of dengue patients across the country has reached 21,235 with 1,687 people having been admitted to hospitals in the last 24 hours.
The control room of the health directorate said so far 6,582 people have been admitted to hospitals throughout the country.
The number of dengue patients in districts outside Dhaka rose to 4,190. Among them 691 people have been infected by the disease in the last 24 hours.
According to the health directorate’s information, 14 dengue patients have died so far.
Unofficial sources and media reports, however, said the death toll has already passed 50.
Meanwhile, 23 dengue patients have been admitted to different hospitals in Feni in the last 24 hours, reports our correspondent in the district.
"So far, 45 people infected with dengue have been treated in the district," said Dr Abu Taher Patwary, the residential medical officer of Feni 250 Bed General Hospital.
