No terrorist base to be allowed in the Chattogram Hill Tracts: Home Minister 

No terrorist base will be allowed in the Chattogram Hill Tracts area said Home Minister Asaduzzaman Kamal on Wednesday.  

The minister made the remark at a meeting on the law and order situation of the three hill districts, held at the district Deputy Commissioner's office in Rangamati. 

"A sudden unrest has started in the hills and some public representatives were killed. Some election officers were also killed," he said. 

The government is determined to stop the bloodshed, he added. 

Kamal said no terrorist or militant will be allowed to remain in Bangladesh.  

He said road communication would be improved in border areas with India and Myanmar to eradicate terrorism, militancy and drug trade in the area. 

The government will do everything to establish peace in the hills. 

Police or Border Guard of Bangladesh will be deployed from where the army has been withdrawn. 

The Home Minister also said that if the terrorists in the hills want to return to normal life, steps will be taken in this regard according to instructions of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. 
Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) Affairs Minister Bir Bahadur Ushwe Sing MP, Home Ministry Secretary Kamal Uddin Ahmed, Mesbahul Islam, Secretary of the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs, among others, were present at the meeting.
