All kinds of Tajia processions have been banned on forthcoming Ashura on August 30 to ensure the safety of the residents of Dhaka Metropolitan (DMP) area amid the pandemic.

DMP Commissioner Shafiqul Islam announced the restriction on processions through a press release on Wednesday.

"Respected devout city dwellers will be able to perform all religious ceremonies at Imambaras in compliance with the hygiene rules," said the press release.

The DMP also has strictly prohibited carrying sharp weapons like knives, daggers, scissors, spears, lances, swords, sticks etc, and firing crackers fireworks in the places of religious ceremonies.
