New IGP Benazir adorned with rank badge

The newly appointed Inspector General of Bangladesh Police (IGP) Dr Benazir Ahmed has been adorned with rank badge today at Ganobhaban in the presence of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Along with the premier, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, Mostafa Kamal Uddin; senior secretary of Public Security Division under the Ministry of Home Affairs, outgoing IGP Dr Mohammad Javed Patwary, Additional IGP (Administration & Operations) Dr Md Moinur Rahman Chowdhury, Additional Inspector General of Special Branch (SB) of Police Mir Shahidul Islam and related secretaries of Prime Minister's Office (PMO) were also present on the occasion.

After the ceremony, IGP Dr Benazir Ahmed went straight to the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at the historic 32 Dhanmondi Road to pay homage by placing floral wreath at the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Senior police officers were present at the time.

Earlier on April 8, Benazir Ahmed was appointed as the new Inspector General of Police (IGP). The Home Ministry issued a notification on the day saying that the appointment will come into effect on April 15.

Meanwhile, Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun, additional inspector general of Criminal Investigation Department (CID), had been made the new chief of RAB after the appointment of Benazir Ahmed as IGP.
