The National Board of Revenue (NBR) celebrated the National Income Tax Day-2019 with a rally on Saturday to increase awareness on income tax and encourage people to pay taxes regularly.

The rally was brought out at Segunbagicha today morning with the slogan- "Shobai miley debo kor, desh hobey shonirbhor" (Let's all pay taxes, and make the country self-reliant).

NBR has also observed the event at all the divisional headquarters of the country.

President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina issued separate messages on the occasion.

The President in his message said that all the developed countries in the world collect revenue mainly from income tax. Bangladesh is heading towards development with Vision 2021 and Vision 2041.

This year, NBR honoured 518 taxpayers with certificates, while 141 other taxpayers were awarded with tax cards in three categories.

An income tax fair began on November 14 across the country. NBR said it collected Tk357.8 crore as income tax during the fair.
