Nasima Begum Human Rights Commission’s new chief

The government has appointed former senior secretary Nasima Begum as the new chairman of National Human Rights Commission (NHRC). 

A circular has been issued in this regard by the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs on Sunday.

Nasima will replace Kazi Reazul Hoque, the former chairman of the commission, whose tenure ended in July.

As the NHRC chairman, Nasima will get facilities equivalent to an Appellate Division judge. 

Six other people have been appointed for different positions at the commission. 

They are former secretary Dr Kamal Uddin Ahmed, Supreme Court Senior Advocate Tawfika Aftab, former chairman of Rangamati Hill District administration Chingku Roaja, former senior District and Sessions Judge Jasmin Ara Begum, former senior District and Sessions Judge Mizanur Rahman Khan and former secretary Dr Namita Halder.
