Emdad was number five accused in the murder case

A murder case accused was killed in a 'gunfight' with police in Chattogram city early Friday. 

Deceased Emdad, 38, son of Farid Ahmed, lived in Sher Shah Colony area in the port city, said Officer-in-charge of Bayezid Bostami Police Station Priton Sarker.

Emdad was number five accused in Ripon murder case. Ripon was stabbed to death in Sher Shah area of the city on December 31, 2019.

Police arrested Emdad from his residence on Thursday evening and then took him with them in a drive in Majhirghona area to seize illegal firearms. Sensing the presence of the police, Emdad's accomplices opened fire on the law enforcers, ensuing the gunfight. He was shot by his accomplices, said the OC.

Police took him to Chattogram Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
