Professor Dr Muntassir Mamoon, former faculty of the history department at Dhaka University, has taken charge as 'Bangabandhu Chair' professor of Chittagong University (CU) for the next two years.

Earlier, he was in charge of the 'Bangabandhu Chair' of Dhaka University.

The professor handed over his joining letter to the Vice-Chancellor of CU, Professor Dr Shireen Akter, in the Bangabandhu Chair Room situated on the Central Library of the university on Monday at around 11 am.

He was later given a reception by the university in the library auditorium.

In the reception programme, the newly appointed 'Bangabandhu Chair' Dr Muntassir Mamoon said, "An organisation survives for the people. If it works ethically, it will be well established. My door will always be open for those who want to work for Bangabandhu and Bangladesh."

Dr Muntassir Mamoon was appointed as 'Bangabandhu Chair' for the next two years at the 529th syndicate meeting of the university on 27 February.

The Chittagong University authorities introduced a "Bangabandhu Chair" to conduct extensive research on the life and activities of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in 2017.
