Mother, paramour get death sentence over Samiul murder

A Dhaka court on Sunday sentenced a woman and her paramour in the sensational murder case of her five-year-old son Samiul Azim Wafi in the capital in 2010.

Judge Sheikh Nazmul Alam of Dhaka Special Judge's Court-4 pronounced the verdict.

The two convicted people are-- Ayesha Humaira alias Esha, 25, mother of Samiul and her alleged boyfriend Shamsuzzaman Bakku, 38. The accused Humaira and Shamsuzzaman are absconding on bail.

An arrest warrant has been issued against them.

The argument hearing of the case ended on November 23.

At the hearing, the state demanded the death penalty for both the accused.

Public Prosecutor (PP) Farukuzzaman Bhuiyan represented the state.

According to the case statement, Samiul, a student of play group of Green Wood International School in Nabboddya Housing under Adabor thana, was killed by his mother Ayesha Humaira and her paramour Shamsuzzaman on 23 June, 2010, as the boy witnessed their illicit affairs.

Later, Samiul's father KR Azam filed a murder case with Adabar police station.

The chargesheet was filed against Humaira and Shamsuzzaman on October 25, 2011.

Charges were framed against the two accused on February 1, 2012.

So far, 22 witnesses were testified in court.
