Morshed, Mehedi appointed as additional attorney general

The Law Ministry and Justice Division issued a notification in this connection as per the order of President Abdul Hamid.

Supreme Court lawyers Sheikh Mohammad Morshed and Mohammad Mehedi Hasan Chowdhury have been appointed as additional attorney general.

Solicitor Runa Nahid Akhter confirmed the matter to the media on Sunday noon.

The Law Ministry and Justice Division issued a notification in this connection as per the order of President Abdul Hamid.

Attorney General Mahbubey Alam passed away while undergoing treatment at Combined Military Hospital in the capital after being tested positive for Covid-19 on 27 September. He had been on the post since 2009.

Afterwards,  President Abdul Hamid appointed Supreme Court Senior lawyer and Supreme Court Bar Association President AM Amin Uddin as attorney general on 8 October last year.

On 11 October, Additional Attorney Generals Murad Reza and Md Momtaz Uddin Fakir submitted their resignation letters to the president and it was accepted on 18 October.
