On Friday, Finance Secretary Abdur Rauf Talukder said the government will allocate more money to procure Covid-19 vaccines if necessary.

"The new budget has allocated Tk14,200 crore for vaccines. More money will be allocated for vaccines if needed," he said at the media briefing of the Finance Minister.

He also said the government will try to make purchase procedures in the health sector more demand-based.

"At the beginning of the next financial year, all hospitals in the country will be assessed and the shortage of equipment will be identified and equipment purchased," he added.

He also announced the ministry will take steps to overcome its shortcomings.

"There is a lack of skills in project management and procurement in the health sector. There will be crash program in the next fiscal year to eliminate these shortcomings," he said.
