Modi greets Hasina on occasion of Eid

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday greeted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the people of Bangladesh on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.

"On the occasion of Eid ul Azha, I would like to extend my warmest greetings to the people and the Government of Bangladesh," said the Indian Prime Minister in a message to his Bangladeshi counterpart.

PM's press secretary Ihsanul Karim said that Narendra Modi mentioned that the festival of Eid-ul-Azha, which is also celebrated in several parts of India, reminded him the deep historical and cultural links of the two countries.

"We hope that this festival will further enhance the spirit of peace and tolerance in our respective societies and promote fraternal ties between our two countries," Modi said.

He appreciated the steps being taken in Bangladesh to tackle Covid-19 situation under the able leadership of Sheikh Hasina.

"I am confident that Bangladesh will tide over these challenging times. We remain available to support your efforts in any way, including through capacity-building in the health sector."
