Modern fire station opens in Karnaphuli

Karnaphuli Modern Fire Service and Civil Defense Station was inaugurated by local MP and Land Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury today. 

The minister was present as the chief guest at the event, organised at fire station premise in Karnafuli upazila of Chattogram, says a press release.

In the speech, the minister said the fire station is a reflection of the long-term expectations of the region. 

He hoped the station will work not only for Karnaphuli area but for the fire safety of Chattogram as a whole. 

Minister Saifuzzaman also highlighted various development activities of the current government. 

"Under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina, the economic condition of Bangladesh was better than other countries in the world even in difficult times of the Covid-19 pandemic. Bangladesh is now a role model for development," he said. 

Upon the arrival of the minister at the venue, a group of firemen led by Station Officer Rahul Debnath gave him a guard of honour. 

Later, the minister unveiled the plaque of Karnaphuli Modern Fire Station and released balloons, followed by prayers for the welfare of the country.

Project Director Md Shahid Atahar Hossain gave a welcome speech at the event. Upazila Chairman Faruk Chowdhury and Fire Service Director (Administration and Finance) Md Wahidul Islam also spoke at the occasion. 

Executive Engineer of Public Works Department Abhijit Chowdhury, Chattogram Division Fire Service Deputy Director Md Abdul Halim, Chattogram Patia Circle Additional Superintendent of Police Dr Ashique Mahmud, Karnaphuli Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Mamunur Rashid, officials of various institutions, people from various professions, leaders of social and political organisations and media workers were present at the opening ceremony.
