Mobile court fines 3 potato sellers in Manikganj for overcharging customers

A mobile court in Saturia upazila of Manikganj district has fined three retail traders Tk9,000 on charge of selling potatoes disregarding the price fixed by the government.  

Sabiha Fatema-tuj-Johora, assistant commissioner (land) of the district administration, conducted a drive in Saturia Sadar Bazar and fined the potato sellers on Thursday noon.

Regarding the matter, she told reporters that the accused traders were selling potatoes at Tk50 per kilogram, although the government has set the retail price of per kilogram of potato at Tk30. 

"Such drives would be continued to protect the consumer rights," she added.
