The Government has appointed Mizanur Rahman as the next Ambassador of Bangladesh to Oman.

Right before he was appointed the ambassador, he was serving as the High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Canada.

Mizanur Rahman, a career foreign service officer belongs to the 1985 batch of Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) Foreign Affairs cadre. 

In his distinguished diplomatic career, he served in Bangladesh Missions in Colombo, Moscow, and Manchester, said a foreign ministry press release. He has also served as Ambassador of Bangladesh to the Netherlands and later to Egypt.

At the Headquarters, he worked in various capacities including as Director General (Multilateral Economic Affairs) and Director General (Administration).

He also served in the Ministry as Additional Secretary (Bi-lateral and Consular) and later as Secretary (Bilateral and Consular).

Rahman obtained his MSc in Physics from Dhaka University, and he is married and blessed with two children.
