A Barguna court on Monday rejected Aysha Siddika Minni’s plea for withdrawal of her confessional statement in Rifat Sharif murder case.

The court of Senior Judicial Magistrate Md Sirajul Isalm Gazi also rejected her appeal seeking medical treatment.

Earlier on July 21, the court had rejected the bail petition of Minni, wife of Rifat Sharif who was brutally killed in broad daylight on June 26 in Barguna.

Minni, a student of Barguna Government College, was arrested on July 16 after a 13-hour questioning.

Police claimed that Minni confessed to her involvement in the attack on her husband, whom she had married just months ago.

Her father Mozammel Hossain, however, claimed his daughter gave the confessional statement under the pressure of law enforcers.

Police have arrested 15 suspects so far, including Minni, in connection with the murder.
