BJBC, Wage Earners renew contract on migrant insurance coverage

An agreement between the Wage Earners' Welfare Board and Bangladesh Jiban Bima Corporation (BJBC) over the insurance coverage of Bangladeshi migrant workers has been extended for two more years.

The parties renewed the contract at a signing ceremony at the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment on Sunday.

The agreement was primarily signed on 11 December 2019 to bring under the insurance coverage all Bangladeshi labourers going abroad, said a media statement.

Imran Ahmad, minister for the expatriates' welfare and overseas employment ministry, Ahmed Munirus Salehin, secretary to the ministry, Md Anwar Hossain, managing director (acting) of Jiban Bima Corporation; Hamidur Rahman, director general of Wage Earners' Welfare Board, among others, were present on the occasion.
