Mastercard announces names of ‘Excellence’ awardees

Mastercard has recently announced the names of 'Mastercard Excellence Awards 2020' winners in a virtual ceremony. 

The awards were given in 11 categories where banks, financial institutions and merchants were recognised for their accomplishments in bringing innovative solutions, said a media statement issued on Saturday.

The winners in different categories include Prime Bank Limited, United Commercial Bank Limited, Standard Chartered Bank, LankaBangla Finance Limited, National Bank Limited, Eastern Bank Limited, Southeast Bank Limited, Brac Bank Limited, Dutch Bangla Bank Limited, Shwapno, Daraz, Bkash Limited, Evaly, etc.    

Salman F Rahman, private sector industry and investment advisor to prime minister joined the ceremony as the chief guest.

Porush Singh, division president for South Asia of Mastercard, Vikas Varma, its chief operating officer for South Asia, Syed Mohammad Kamal, country manager, Bangladesh of Mastercard and other senior officials from partner banks and financial institutions joined the event.

Speaking on the occasion, Porush Singh said, "Mastercard fully supports the vision of the Bangladesh government to build a Digital Bangladesh by 2021. Since the inception of Mastercard's journey in Bangladesh, driving financial inclusion via innovation has been a key priority."

"This year has been exceptional, and Mastercard is thankful for the partnership and commitment demonstrated by all stakeholders to achieving uninterrupted commerce, even during the months of lockdown," he added.

"Mastercard remains committed to its partners and will continue to work in collaboration with them and other local stakeholders to create a safe, secure and seamless payments ecosystem in the country," Porush Singh continued.

In its second year, Mastercard Excellence Awards aims to recognise partners for their contribution to create innovative solutions and delivering accomplishments in various areas of business growth, the press statement read.
