A massive fire broke out in a tyre factory in the Tejgaon area of the capital.

Fire service officials have so far speculated that the fire, which broke out at 3am on Wednesday, originated from a boiler explosion.

Russel Shikdar, duty officer of the Fire Service and Civil Defence control room said the fire has been extinguished, but the damage caused by the blaze could not be assessed immediately.

"Since the fire was in a rubber tyre factory, the fire was quite tough to bring under control", added Hossain.

Upon receiving the news of the blaze around 3:10 am, five units of the fire service rushed to the spot. Later few more joined them and 12 units worked to bring the fire under control.
