‘Manobotar Eid Utshob’
“People need to be there for other people. If we do not, who will stand beside the helpless?”
With a view to spreading the joy of Eid among all, Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal (BSD) has distributed cooked food to helpless and hungry people in Barishal.
The initiative has been named as "Manobotar Eid Utshab" where 150 volunteers cooked and distributed food among 5,000 people in 30 wards of Barishal city.
This tremendous initiative started on Sunday night when cooking started at the Matrichhaya school ground adjacent to the party's office on Fakirbari Road in the city and extended till Monday noon with the distribution.
Previously, the BSD also took up some other generous initiatives, including "Manobotar Bazar".
For one and a half months, they have been distributing various commodities among the destitute people, providing seeds to farmers and arranging ambulances for the sick.
"People need to be there for other people. If we do not, who will stand beside the helpless?" said Imran Habib Rumon, convener of the party.
"The goal is to provide food to the helpless, and if one can inspire another in this work, no one will go hungry," he added.
"Many people have been spending their days without food due to coronavirus pandemic. Where will the joy of Eid come from if there is hunger?" said Manisha Chakrabarty, member secretary of the BSD.
"After receiving the packet of food, their faces glittered with a smile which offered us feeling that cannot be interpreted," she added.
