A man was arrested on Thursday morning in Narayanganj's Siddhirganj for allegedly posting offensive contents on Facebook against Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

The arrestee was identified as Amir Hossain Patwari, 57, son of late Mahmud Ullah of Jadia of Chandraganj village in Lakshmipur district.

Noman Hossain, literature and cultural affairs secretary of the Narayanganj city unit Swecchasebak League, filed a case against Amir under the Digital Security Act on Wednesday night.

According to the case statement, the arrestee wrote offensive Facebook posts against prime minister on June 10 last year and September 4 this year.

He also posted photoshopped images of Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, and prime minister's son and daughter-in-law on the social media platform, said the statement.

Officer-in-Charge Kamrul Faruq of Siddhirganj police station said police arrested Amir from Pineadi area following a case filed against him for posting offensive contents against the prime minister on Facebook.

He will be interrogated for further information, said the OC.
