Making Mahbub Kabir OSD sparks criticism on social media

People have criticized the government’s decision and expressed their best wishes for him on the social media

The news of making Mahbub Kabir Milon, an additional secretary of the Ministry of Railways, an Officer on Special Duty (OSD) at the Ministry of Public Administration has drawn sharp criticism from social media users in Bangladesh.

A gazette notification was issued by the public administration ministry on the transfer of five additional secretaries on Thursday.
According to the notice, Mahbub has been made an OSD.

Mahbub confirmed the matter yesterday through a post on Facebook, which went viral. Some 25,000 people reacted to the post within six hours of uploading it.

People criticized the government's decision and expressed their best wishes for him on the social media. They also demanded the withdrawal of this decision and urged the government to utilize the officer for the betterment of the country.

Shariful Hasan, a journalist and social worker, made a post about it on the social media saying that he was deeply shocked and disheartened hearing the news of making Mahbub Kabir Milon an OSD.

He has urged the Prime Minister to appoint Mahbub Kabir in a department, where he can work for the country.

The incident has shocked people as Mahbub is reputed for his honesty, intelligence and hard work.

He worked hard to ensure food safety while serving at the Bangladesh Food Safety Authority.

Later, he was transferred in the Ministry of Railways as an additional secretary on March 25.

He gained fame by pulling down corruptions at the ministry.

Mahbub has also played a significant role to make the financial transaction system of bKash safer.
