Make list of language martyrs, veterans in 6 months: HC

The High Court on Sunday ordered the authorities concerned to create a full list of martyrs and veterans of the language movement within six months.

A High Court bench comprising of Justice FRM Nazmul Ahasan and KM Kamrul Kader also instructed the secretary of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs to submit a report to the court after making the list.

The decision was made on the basis of a writ filed at the court on February 27 asking for an honorarium allowance for language movement veterans and preserving the history of the movement.

The writ also asked for a directive to create a complete list of language movement martyrs and veterans.

Lawyers Subir Nandi Das and Ishrat Hasan represented the writ petitioner, while Deputy Attorney General Barrister ABM Abdul Al Mahmud Bashar represented the state.
