A Dhaka court on Sunday granted bail to Barrister Mainul Hosein in a case filed against him over making “defamatory” remarks about journalist Masuda Bhatti.

Dhaka Cyber Tribunal Judge Ash-Shams Jaglul Hussein granted him bail after hearing his petition. Earlier on the day, Mainul surrendered before the court and sought bail through his lawyer advocate Shajkam al Hawlader Tuhin.

On November 29 last year, Manira Sultana Moni, vice president of Awami League in Valuka, filed a petition with Valuka Police Station against Barrister Mainul over making defamatory remarks on journalist Masuda Bhatti. On that day, the court issued summons against him.
