Lightning kills 3 in Bogura

Three people including a middle-aged couple were killed as a lightning struck them in Bogura’s Sariakandi Upazila on Thursday noon.

The deceased were identified as — Amirul Islam, 45, her wife Felani, 38 and Sumon Mia, 32.

Witnesses and police said the couple took their cattle to nearby Jamuna River to give those a bathe in Karnibari area. Being hit by lightning bolt, they and their livestock died on the spot.

Two others — Tania and Nijhum —sustained burn injuries at that time. After rescuing, locals rushed them to Sariakandi Upazila Health Complex.

Sumon was killed in another incident of lightning in neighbouring Char Batia village.
