Relief embezzlement: Jubo League leader among 9 sued

A local Jubo League leader among nine people have been sued allegedly for attempting to sell rice marked for relief to the black market in Gabtoli upazila of Boguraon Wednesday.

"We arrested two persons and recovered 62 sacks (each sack contains 10kg) from Dakshinpara area of Gabtoli upazila on Tuesday night. The rice were sent as relief for the poor people living in the area," Officer-in-Charge of Gabtoli Police Station Saber Reza Ahmed told The Business Standard.

The arrested persons were identified as Nazrul Islam and Rubel Miah.

The arrestees told police that they got the rice from Dakshin Bhag Union unit Jubo League President MonjurulHuq.

Monjurul went into hiding soon after the incident.
