Law minister’s mother laid to rest at Banani graveyard

Jahanara Huq, mother of Law Minister Anisul Huq and a freedom fighter, was laid to eternal rest at the Banani graveyard in the capital city on Saturday noon, after being awarded a guard of honour.

Earlier, her namaz-e-janaza was held at Jam-e-Mosque of Water Development Board adjacent to Banani- 11 after Zohr prayer.

Apart from her son and Law Minister Anisul Huq and other relatives, Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain, Railways Minister Md Nurul Islam Sujan,  State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid, Justice Dr. Zakir Hossain, Former Home Minister Dr Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir, among others, took part in the Janaza.

Jahanara Huq, wife of advocate Sirajul Huq, died at a city hospital early Saturday aged 85.

She had been suffering from various old age complications including heart diseases and was admitted to Apollo Hospital on October 27, 2019.
