5 bodies recovered as launch capsizes in Shitalakshya

Divers have recovered bodies of five women after a launch, carrying more than 50 passengers, capsized in Shitalakshya river in Narayanganj's Madanganj Ghat area. 

Fire Service's Deputy Assistant Director Abdullah Al Arifin said, one of the victims died at the hospital.

The launch - named ML Sabit Al Hasan - sank after colliding with a cargo ship around 6 pm on Sunday. It runs on Narayanganj-Munshiganj route.

Meena Mahmuda, Superintendent of Narayanganj Naval Police, said members of the naval police and fire service rushed to the spot immediately after hearing about the incident and started the rescue operations.
