Krishak League leader hacked dead in Bogura
A local leader of Bangladesh Krishak League has been hacked to death allegedly by his rivals during a factional clash at Moidanhatta of Bogura's Shibganj upazila on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Ajharul Islam Nantu, 35, son of Badsha of Niyamatpur village. He was the secretary of ward-8 unit Krishak League of Moidanhatta Union.
Locals said Nantu had a feud with Jafar, an expelled Jubo League leader of Daridaha village, over establishing supremacy in the area.
On Monday night, a clash broke out between their followers at Daridaha around 9pm and continued until 12am in phases. At one stage of the melee, Nantu was hacked mercilessly.
When he was rushed to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital, doctors pronounced him dead around 2am.
Moidanhatta UP chairman SM Rupam blamed Jafar's gang for the murder.
"The criminal gang of expelled Jubo League leader Jafar hacked Nantu to death," he said.
Contacted, Officer-in-charge of Shigbanj Police Station SM Badiuzzaman said Nantu was killed in a clash between two factions of the party at Daridaha Port area.
Preparations were underway to file a case over the incident, he added.
However, the body was handed over to the deceased's family members after autopsy.
