Keraniganj authorities seal off plastic factory after deadly fire

Thirteen victims died in the factory fire after suffering severe burn injuries on their entire bodies

Local administration has sealed off the Prime Plate and Plastics Industries Ltd in Keraniganj, following a deadly fire on Wednesday that left 13 workers dead and dozens injured.

"We are investigating the incident and already sealed the factory off at 11am on Friday," Upazila Executive Officer Amit Deb Nath told The Business Standard.

Deputy Commissioner of Dhaka, Abu Saleh Mohammad Ferdous Khan had visited the scene of the incident earlier in the day. 

A fire broke out at the plastic factory in Dakkhin Keraniganj upazila's Chunkutiya area on Wednesday. Thirteen workers died after suffering severe burn injuries.

Eighteen more are currently in critical condition and undergoing treatment at two different hospitals.
