The other three accused confessed their roles yesterday

The chief accused in the Kamrangichar gang rape case, Md Ratan, on Sunday admitted to a Dhaka court that he was involved in the heinous crime.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Habibur Rahman recorded Ratan's confessional statement after police produced him to the court, according to Recording Officer Afsana Yeasmin.

Meanwhile, the three other suspects in the case, Hasan, Shifat and Sabuz, also admitted yesterday that they raped the victim.

On Thursday, four people, with the help of a female friend of the victim, allegedly took the girl to the first floor of a two-storey building under construction in Kamrangirchar's Rasulpur area and gang-raped her for about one-and-a-half hours there.

The victim was rescued and admitted to the One Stop Crisis Centre of Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Later, a team of Rapid Action Battalion had arrested Ratan during a drive in Savar area.
