Jute mill workers have called off their five-day-long hunger strike after getting an assurance to meet their demands.

"We will return to our work from Saturday as we got assurance from our honourable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. We are calling off the strike," Sardar Abdul Hamid, convenor of the Jute Mill Sangram Parishad told media.

Earlier on Sunday, workers of state-owned jute mills in Khulna industrial belt went on fresh indefinite hunger strike to press home their 11-point demand, including implementation of the wage commission.
