A section of teachers and students of Jahangirnagar University (JU) on Sunday burned an effigy of the Vice-chancellor Prof. Farzana Islam demanding her removal.

A section of JU students and teachers under the banner of 'Jahangirnagar against corruption' brought out a procession from in front of Social Welfare Faculty around 1 pm demanding VC's removal that ended at the premises of Shaheed Minar.

They also set fire to an effigy of the VC and chanted slogans saying 'Get out Farzana Islam, We have rejected the VC, and we don't want a corrupt VC."

Prof. Dr Mohammad Khabir Uddin, a teacher of the university, said, "The VC chapter is closed though the burning of the effigy and  the VC will be removed through a movement."
