JU student dies of dengue

A Jahangirnagar University (JU) student died of dengue at Dhaka Medical College Hospital in the capital on Sunday night, the JU authorities and his friends confirmed.

The deceased was identified as Ranjit Das Chauhan, a student of Government and Politics Department under 2016-17 session (46 Batch) of the university.

Ranjit, hailing from Cumillah Adarsha Sadar Upazila, was also a resident student of Shaheed Rafiq Jabbar Hall and general secretary of JU Cine Society.

His friend Saiful Islam Porosh said Ranjit had been feeling sick since last Saturday. Then he was admitted to Cumilla Tower Hospital yesterday morning where he was diagnosed with dengue.

Later, doctors referred him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) after his physical condition deteriorated, he said.

At 1.00 am he was admitted to DMCH and but died there around 1.40 am, Porosh added.
