The government of Japan extended a grant of approximately Tk 2 million to JAAGO Foundation Trust through Grant Assistance for Grass-roots Human Security Projects (GGHSP).

Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh Ito Naoki signed the grant contracts for GGHSP at the Embassy of Japan with Korvi Rakshand Dhrubo, chairman of JAAGO Foundation Trust, said a press release from the Embassy of Japan.

JAAGO has been awarded the grant for "The Project for Providing Bus Service for the Students and the Community Teachers in Bandarban District".

JAAGO, with the assistance of the GGHSP funding, will support the students and community teachers of its JAAGO Bandarban School with a school bus to travel to and from the remote location to the school.

Japan has supported 199 NGO projects through GGHSP since 1989 with the view to enhance economic and social human security at the grass-roots levels. The total sum of these GGHSP grants extended to NGOs in Bangladesh to date amounts to approximately $16 million.
