Islamic preacher Wasik Billah Nomani arrested in Mymensingh
Nomani, also district secretary of the social organisation Khairul Ummah, was arrested from his house at Sankipara in Mymensingh Sadar around 5 pm.

Detective Branch of police arrested Wasik Billah Nomani, an Islamic preacher, from Mymensingh district on Sunday.
Nomani, also district secretary of the social organisation Khairul Ummah, was arrested from his house at Sankipara in Mymensingh Sadar around 5 pm.
Superintendent of Police Ahmar Uzzaman said, "Wasik Billah had made a number of provocative statements on social media capitalising on religious issues, which could lead to misdirection of the general public including creating religious divisions. There is a case against him. He is currently in police custody. He will be taken to court on Monday."
Wasik Billah Nomani graduated from Anandamohan College, Mymensingh. He converted from Hinduism to Islam.
