Islam Garments managing director Shafiqul Islam dies
He died on Monday midnight in the capital at the age of 82
Md Shafiqul Islam, managing director of Islam Garments Limited & Group died on Monday midnight in the capital.
Public Relations Officer of Dhaka North City Corporation ASM Mamun confirmed to The Business Standard.
Shafiqul Islam, 82, is the elder brother of Dhaka North City Corporation Mayor Md Atiqul Islam.
His namaz-e-janaza will be held at Baridhara's Baitul Atiq Mosque after Zuhr prayer.
He has left behind his wife, two sons and host of well-wishers to mourn his death.
Shafiqul Islam graduated from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet) in 1957 with a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and a Master's degree in Structural Engineering in 1965.
He was a fellow member of the Bangladesh Engineering Association.
In 1986, Shafiqul established the garment industry with his younger brother Atiqul Islam. At present Islam Garments Limited & Group is one of the largest industrial enterprises in the country.
