Metro Rail to run on Agargaon-Diabari route from June 2022: DMTCL MD

Metro rail service will be launched on the Uttara-Diabari route (MRT Line-6) from June next year.
"Viaduct test run on the route will be held in August this year," said MAN Siddique, managing director of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL), in a virtual briefing today.
He also said, "Construction of underground part of MRT line 1 (Airport, Natun Bazar, Kuril and Kamalapur points) from March 2022.
To build an effective transport system in Dhaka that will reduce traffic congestion, the MRT Line-6 was approved in 2012 at an estimated cost of Tk22,000 crore with Japanese assistance under the Strategic Transport Plan.
As part of the project, a 20.1km metro rail line will be constructed from Diabari to Motijheel by 2024.
