Denmark to provide $217m to improve water supply in Dhaka

Denmark has been working since last 45 years in agriculture, water and sanitation, transport, human rights and good governance programme

The government has signed a $217 million agreement with Denmark, on the project titled "Saidabad Water Treatment Plant, Phase-III" at capital's Sher-e-bangla Nagar today.

The project aims at reducing poverty by responding to several sustainable development goals, including- uninterrupted clean water supply, economic growth, climate action, sustainable cities and good health.

Dr Nahid Rashid, additional secretary and Nordic Wing Chief of Economic Relation Division, Bangladesh Ministry of Finance and Winne Estrup Petersen, Ambassador to Royal Danish Embassy signed the agreement.
