The city corporation would continue its drives against the machineries used for filling sand illegally

The Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) has confiscated 280 iron pipes used for illegal sand filling and sold those at Tk4.42 lakh on a spot auction.

DSCC executive magistrate AH Irfan Uddin Ahmed on Sunday conducted a drive in the Fakhirkhali area of 75 no ward of Dhaka South and seized the 10-meter long pipes, said a media statement issued by DSCC.

Md Rasel Sabrin, chief estate officer of DSCC, said the city corporation would continue its drives against the machineries used for filling sand illegally in its territory.

According to Local Government (City Corporation) Law-2009, before undertaking any development project, all construction firms need prior nod from the city corporation.

But, many of them are filling sand for constructing unplanned housing projects in the Fakhirkhali area without taking permission from the city corporation, the press statement read.
