The Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) has evicted illegal establishments including ten shipyards on the bank of Shitalakshya river at Kayetpara area of Narayanganj's Rupganj.

A team led by Executive Magistrate Mustafizur Rahamn conducted the drive today morning.

The drive evicted part of a proposed stadium owned by an Awami league leader.

"The area is of around one acre where local political leaders had been conducting stone business for a while," said Masud Kamal, joint director of Narayanganj River port.

"But there is no authorization for the proposed stadium from the upazila administration", he added.
