Stresses on high moral and ethical value

Dr. Mohammad Javed Patwary, Inspector General of Police (IGP), urged citizens to join the war on drugs on Saturday, as he identified drug as one of the major obstacles to development at a ‘ward giving ceremony’.

IGP called on the people to disseminate anti-drug awareness among the youths, while addressing the ceremony, held at the Police Convention Hall in Mirpur in Dhaka. As the chief guest, the police chief urged youth to be aware of the social menace. More than 400 meritorious students from families of police personnel, have been awarded in the programme.

“We don’t need certificate-based education only, we need students with high moral and ethical values, who will enlighten the society. Seeing them, others will be encouraged to embrace morality,’’ Police chief further said.

‘’Anti-drug drive, which was launched by police and other law enforcement agencies last year, will go on,’’ the IGP added.

Director General of RAB Benazir Ahmed, Additional IGP Dr. Md. Moinur Rahman Chowdhury, Additional IGP Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun, PUNAK president and wife of IGP Habiba Javed were present, among others, at the programme. Taptun Nasrin, Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of police, gave the inaugural speech at the award giving ceremony.
