Measures should also be taken for removing the fear of police from people's mind

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Md Shafiqul Islam today said that if public do not get expected service in any police station under Dhaka Metropolitan, senior officers would be sent to those stations to monitor the activities for ensuring the justice.

"If necessary, I will go to police station and do the job of Officer-in-Charge (OC) and talk to local people," said the newly appointed commissioner while briefing media at the DMP Media Centre in the city.

Police should be vigilant so that people who are coming to police stations for seeking justice do not face any kinds of harassment, said the commissioner.

He said all OCs and deputy commissioners of the police stations in Dhaka Metropolitan have been given instructions for strict monitoring to reduce the harassment of people.

Measures should also be taken for removing the fear of police from people's mind, he added.

He said that actions would be taken if any police official found guilty of harassing people and demanding extortion.
