ICT counsel Tipu appeals to remove his name from Razakars’ list
He also urged to take legal actions against those who were responsible for the mistake
International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) counsel Ghulam Arif Tipu today appealed to the ministries of Home, Liberation War Affairs and Law to remove his name from the recently published Razakars' list.
He also urged to take legal actions against those who were responsible for the mistake, confimed Senior Prosecutor of the tribunal Ziad Al Malum.
In the application, Tipu said, "I urge the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs to realize their mistake and urgently correct the mistake and issue a notification to cancel and withdraw my name."
"The Minister of Liberation War has mentioned to the media that they have printed the list which was sent from the Ministry of Home Affairs. I am humbly requesting the Home ministry to provide me a copy of the Razakars' list sent by the Ministry of Home Affairs and the information on which the list was prepared," he said in the petition sent to the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Earlier, he expressed resentment in a press briefing over inclusion of his name in the recently published list of Razakars.
On December 15, the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs published the names of 10,789 Razakars who had collaborated with the Pakistani occupation forces during the 1971 Liberation War and committed crimes against humanity.
