ICAB gets new chief operating officer

Mahbub Ahmed Siddique has been appointed as the chief operating officer of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB).
His new role has been effective from 1 December.
Prior to this new post, Siddique performed as the secretary and chief executive officer (in charge) of the ICAB since 27 September 2020 -- in addition to his role as director (technical) till 30 November this year, said a media statement issued Sunday.
He joined the ICAB in 2008. As the director (technical), he led the areas of quality assurance, technical standards, professional conduct, training and research, international affairs and collaboration, and other technical matters of the institute.
Siddique also served the South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA) as an executive secretary in 2017.
He was nominated as assistant executive secrecy of SAFA in 2016. He is also ICAB nominated director at the SAFA Foundation and marketing director at the Chartered Accountants Worldwide, said the media release.
Before joining ICAB, he was employed by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) as a consultant in the World Bank Funded ICAB-ICAEW Twinning Project.
Siddique completed his chartered accountancy course from Hoda Vasi Chowdhury & Co, Chartered Accountants.
He completed his master's in accounting in 2002. He was qualified as Chartered Accountant in 2007 and became an associate member of ICAB in the same year, and subsequently a fellow member in 2012.
