Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh brought out a protest procession on Sunday evening in Chattogram's Hathazari after four people were killed and over 200 others injured in a clash between police and locals in Borhanuddin upazila over a 'Facebook post' hurting the religious sentiment.

The members of Hefazat-e-Islam blocked Chattogram-Khagrachari highway till 6pm which caused a severe traffic congestion in the area.

General Secretary of Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh, Azizul Haque told to The Business Standard, police unfairly fired on the people. Therefore, we are protesting the incident of Bhola by blocking the road.

When contacted, Officer-in Charge of Hathazari Police Station Belal Uddin Jahangir confirmed the incident saying: "No unpleasant incident happened due to the road blockade. The situation is normal now."
