Why should we relish seasonal fruits?

The season of devouring juicy mango of Rajshahi, a little sweet treat of litchi, mouthwatering sweet and sour blackberries, and the national pride jackfruit is here. Bangladesh is the only county to have six seasons, and each season stores magnificent treats for you.

With the scorching summer sun comes a whole bunch of sweet, juicy fruits to give us relief from the hot discomfort. Mango, litchi, guava, jackfruit, papaya, musk melon, various types of berries etc., become widely available at our doorstep.

Papaya, Banana, coconut, Lime etc., are some of the fruits available throughout the year in Bangladesh.

There are innumerable benefits of relinquishing seasonal fruits. Here is why you should grab seasonal fruits as soon as they hit the ground.

The Burst of flavour: Have you ever reckoned why the fruits that your grandparents have sent you or your parents have ordered from a village is so flavourful and incomparable to the fruits available at the stores?

Seasonal fruits from gardens are fresh and a heaven for the taste bud. However, fruits tenderness and succulent flavour tend to decrease as it comes out of season and is harvested without care for mass production. Hence, it would be best if you lay your hands on these fresh and juicy seasonal delicacies as soon as you can.

High Nutritional values: Seasonal fruits are not only an alley of your taste bud but also rich in nutritional value. Especially, the vitamin c available in seasonal fruits is higher than the ones out of season. The seasonal fruits are full of antioxidants. It can prevent many diseases and helps to eliminate free radicals from your body.

Free of chemical preservatives and formalin: chemical preservatives and toxic formalin are often used to store fruits or make them look fresh. Formalin can even cause fatality or even trigger cancer. Seasonal fruits are free from preservatives and hazardous formalin. 

Quenching thirst: Lips and throat gets parched in summer. A glass full of fresh seasonal fruit juice is a great way to quench our thirst and replenish the fluids in our body lost due to sweat. Besides, seasonal fruit juice is way better than the fizzy drinks lying on the desks of the stores.

Good for your wallet: Seasonal fruits are not only flavourful and nutritious; but also affordable and widely available. Nowadays, you can order seasonal fruits at an affordable rate in a huge chunk, straight from the garden, without having contact with third parties.
