A neutral organisation following ISO 18184:2019 policy has found the mask is 99.9 percent effective at killing viruses

Urmi Group has launched a three-layered antiviral and antimicrobial face mask called Turaag Protex. The mask is manufactured using Swiss Technology (HeiQ Viroblock), read a press release.

Despite being a world-class personal protection product for safety, its manufacturers say it is affordable for the general public.

The Turaag Protex mask is 99.9 percent effective at killing viruses, which has been tested and proven by a neutral organization following ISO 18184: 2019 policy, the press release added.

"Made with reusable fabric, it is possible to wash the mask and use it up to 25 times. It is also very soft and comfortable for long-time use, and is available in different colors. This mask will also be available for children soon," it reads.

"Among the three layers of fabric, the outer layer fabric prevents water droplets from passing through, the middle layer is treated with HeiQ Viroblock NPJ03 to destroy viruses. The ingredients used for the middle layer of this mask are proven by an ISO 18184: 2019 test to achieve 99.9 percent virus inactivity in a matter of minutes," read the press release.

"The last outer layer is made of a special waterproof fabric that can protect against tiny water particles from sneezes and coughs," it added.

The technology in the fabric attracts oppositely charged viruses and binds them permanently to their sulfur groups, forming silver sulfide–immobilising and inactivating all viruses.

Prolonged use of this mask does not cause any problems for breathing. Also, since the mask has a nose bridge over the nose and an adjustable string for ears, the mask fits on the face in such a way that no germs or dust can enter from outside, the press statement says.

The nose bridge would protect glasses from the fogging that frequently occurs when one uses other masks in tandem with glasses.

Urmi Group Managing Director Asif Ashraf said, "Recently, we launched Turaag Protex, an international standard antiviral and antimicrobial face mask, as the first high performance mask in Bangladesh, developed following the policy of high-performance masks made by the Directorate General of Drug Administration."
