Malaysia returnee dies a day after completion of quarantine

The UP member had no symptoms of novel Coronavirus infection. He died of heart disease, said Upazila Health and Family Planning officer.

A union parishad member who recently returned from Malaysia died of heart-related complications a day after he had completed a 14-day home quarantine.

The deceased is Golam Mostafa, 58, a member of Bankra union parishad in Jashore's Jhikargacha upazila.

Abdullah Al Mamun, son of the deceased, told The Business Standard that his father returned home from Malaysia on March 14. The upazila administration put a seal in his hand and hoisted a red flag at their home. He completed a 14-day home quarantine on March 28 and he was fine.

On Monday morning, he complained of chest pain and vomited several times. Later, a doctor declared him dead after being informed.

Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Habibur Rahman, who visited the place, said the UP member had no symptoms of novel Coronavirus infection. He died of heart disease.

Jhikargachha Upazila Nirbahi Officer Sumi Majumder also echoed the same.
